Biography

Timon Rabczuk is Professor of Computational Mechanics at Bauhaus University Weimar. He
has published more than 650 articles and 2 books. Timon is editor in Chief of CMC-Computers,
Materials and Continua, associate editor of International Journal of Impact Engineering, Applied
Physics A, International Journal of Mechanics and Materials in Design, Underground Space, Defense
Technology and executive editor of FSCE-Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering. He is a
member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. His research interests include Computational
Science, Integrated Computational Materials Engineering and the numerical solution of partial
differential equations.

Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail graduated with a B.Eng. (Petroleum Engineering) and M.Sc. In
(Chemical Engineering) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He was awarded the
Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. in Chemical and Process Engineering
at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom, specializing in membrane technology,
where he managed to successfully complete his study in less than three years.
His research interest is in the development of polymeric, inorganic and novel mixed matrix membranes
for water desalination, wastewater treatment, gas separation processes, membrane for palm oil refining, photocatalytic membrane for removal of emerging contaminants, development of haemodialysis membranes and polymer electrolyte membrane for fuel cell applications.
As one of the early pioneers of membrane technology in Malaysia, he is the founding Director of
Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC) that has initiated various community
projects for more than a decade. He has developed 15 patents, with 20 more pending for approval.
As a prolific author, his compendium of publications ranges from over 1400 papers in refereed journals,
over 80 book chapters and 11 books. His current Scopus h-index is 112 (63,277 citations) and Web of
Science h-index stands at 97 (39,569 citations). He has supervised more than 70 Ph.D. and 50 M.Sc.
students to completion as well as having supervised 10 post-doctoral fellows.
He is a member of the Malaysia Science Council, Member of The Malaysia Higher Education Council,
Member of Higher Education Advisory Committee, Chairman of Malaysia Membrane Society
(MyMembrane), Chairman for Selection Committee Of The 14th And 15th National Academic Award
And Chairman Of Malaysia Research University Network (MRUN). He serves as a Chief Editor and
Editorial Board Members for several reputable international journals.
He is also the current chair of Asia Technology Network (ATU-NET). ATU- NET is a network alliances
that consists of 38 technological university members across Asia including Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Phillippines, Thailand, Vietnam, India and Bangladesh.
For his continuous contribution in the area of engineering and technology, he was honoured with more
than 140 awards at both national and international levels. Datuk Fauzi is also the first Malaysian to
receive the Mustafa Prize Laureate (known as OIC or Muslim Nobel Prize) on 2nd October 2023, The
World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Award in Engineering Sciences for 2019, Merdeka Award for
the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Category on 4th september 2014, Malaysia’s Rising Star
Award (2016) Highly Cited Researcher for five consecutive years from 2018-2022 by Clarivate
Analytics, and ASEAN Young Scientist Award 2001 and Malaysia Young Scientist Award in 2000.

Aydin Shishegaran is Lecturer at IU International University of Applied Sciences and another
institute in Germany. He got his first Ph.D. in 2022 from Iran University Science and Technology and
his second PhD accepted in 2024 at Bauhaus University Weimar. Since, he has published over 27 ISI
 papers in high-ranked journals and have 772 citations and reviewed 265 manuscripts for high ranked journals. He is editor in journal of mechatronics and artificial intelligence in engineering since 2020.
Furthermore, in 2021, he is a guest editor in Sustainability in MDPI. In 2024, he edited a book entitled
Applications of Blockchain and Computational Intelligence in Environmental Sustainability for Taylor
and Francis. In 2020, he published a new MCDA method for sustainable evaluation. In 2022, 2023, and 2024, he published four new ML methods in high-ranked journal, which one of them is the most cited paper in computers and structures.
