Biography

Bilal M. Ayyub, Ph.D., PE, Dist.M.ASCE, Hon.M.ASME is an A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland College Park Professor and Director of the Center for Technology and Systems Management, and a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London, UK. He was a visiting fellow at the National Security Analysis Department of the Applied Physics Laboratory in 2015-16. He was a chair professor at Tongji University, Shanghai, China (2016-18) and is currently the Co-Director of its International Joint Research Center for Resilient Infrastructure.

Richard H. McCuen, Ph.D., is an Emeritus Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland. After 49 years (1971-2020) on the faculty at the University of Maryland, including 35 years as Director of the Engineering Honors Program, he retired as the Ben Dyer Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering (1998-2020).
