Biography

Professor Vijay P. Singh is a Distinguished Professor, a Regents Professor, and the inaugural holder of the Caroline and William N. Lehrer Distinguished Chair in Water Engineering at Texas A&M University. He received his B.Sc & Tech., M.S., Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees, all in engineering. He is a registered professional engineer, a registered professional hydrologist, a Board-Certified Water Resources Engineer (ASCE-AAWRE), and an Honorary Diplomate of European Water Resources Association. He is a member of National Academy of Engineering (NAE), a member of Canadian Academy of Engineering, an Academician of Georgia Fazisi Academy, a member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a fellow/member of 11 other international science/engineering academies. He is a Distinguished Member of ASCE, an Honorary Distinguished Member of IWRA, a Distinguished Fellow of AGGS, and an Honorary Member of AWRA, and a Fellow of AGU, IAHR, EWRI, ASCE, IAH, ISAE, IWRS, and IASWC. He has published extensively in the areas of hydrology, irrigation engineering, hydraulics, groundwater, water quality, food-water-energy-environment nexus, water resources, entropy theory, copula theory, and climate change impacts with more than 1718 refereed journal articles; 41 books; 106 edited reference books, 134 book chapters; and 334 conference papers. His Google Scholar citations are more than 124,764; h-index of 153; and I10-index of 1635. He has received four honorary doctorates and more than 125 national and international awards. He has served as President of the American Institute of Hydrology (AIH); President of American Academy of Water Resources Engineers; President of International Association for Water, Environment, Energy, and Society; President of International Society for Smart Construction and Production; and Chair of Watershed Council of American Society of Civil Engineers. He has served as editor-in-chief of five journals and two book series and has served/serves on editorial boards of more than 40 journals and three book series. He has given more than 236 keynote lectures and 316 invited seminars all over the world, and has organized more than 30 international conferences. Research.Com has ranked Professor Singh number 2 in hydrology in the world and number 13 among all earth scientists in the world; whereas Scholar GPS has ranked him number 1 in hydrology, number 1 in drought, and number 4 in water resources in the world.

Dr. Qiong Su is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Clemson University. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Science & Computer Science (Ocean University of China), an M.S. in Environmental Science (Peking University), and a Ph.D. in Water Management & Hydrological Science (Texas A&M University). Her research bridges fundamental and applied irrigation management, advancing water-use efficiency and climate-resilient crop production by integrating field measurements, process-based models, geospatial big data, remote sensing, and artificial intelligence. She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, a textbook on irrigation engineering, and multiple book chapters. Her contributions include the calibration-free PT_SS method for reference evapotranspiration, a seasonal forecast downscaling tool for regional crop modeling and irrigation management, and idCROP, a sensor- and crop-model–based irrigation decision app. She teaches irrigation system design and land surveying, serves as a reviewer for more than 20 journals, and is an active member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
