Biography

Katherine Schofield is a Full Professor and Assistant Program Director for Midwestern University’s Occupational Therapy Program in Glendale, Arizona.

Deborah Schwartz is a hand therapist with over 40 years of experience as a practicing clinician. She works with Orfit Industries America to promote product awareness and splinting education.

"Authors Schofield and Schwartz have combined their experiences as expert teachers and clinicians to create an extremely accessible learning resource for this generation of learners. As an educator for 30 years, I continually hear from students that they are “hands-on” learners, and I have witnessed them watching the videos in the classroom while they construct their own orthoses. This text provides both background information and application in a way that meets every learning style."

Dr. Chris Merchant, Past Program Director and Associate Professor, Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona Campus

"This textbook is infused with colorful photos and diagrams that highlight a variety of different orthotic interventions. Each chapter examines a specific part of the upper extremity and provides detailed explanations of various clinical conditions that benefit from orthotic intervention.  Video demonstrations accompany each chapter. Students and novice clinicians can benefit from the explanations, diagrams, videos, and accompanying questions."

Pat McKee, Associate Professor Emeritus Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, University of Toronto, Canada
