Biography
Victoria A. Lane, MBChB, MRCS is a Senior Pediatric Surgical Registrar at Leeds Children’s Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds, U.K. She has completed a two year Pediatric Colorectal Clinical Research Fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A with Dr Marc A. Levitt.
Her research interests include long-term outcomes and quality of life in children with anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung disease. During her fellowship, Victoria was exposed to the full spectrum of clinical pediatric colorectal disease, and, with the co-authors, has developed these Case Studies on Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Surgery.
Victoria studied Medicine at Birmingham University Medical School, Birmingham, U.K and following graduation has developed a keen interest in medical education. She has been an anatomy demonstrator at Cambridge University and has studied Clinical Medical Education at Leeds University, U.K focusing on context, design, and the principles of learning. She has previously published numerous chapters in case studies textbooks and revision guides for Pediatric Surgery.
Marc Levitt, MD, is the Surgical Director of the Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction (CCPR) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the Ohio State University. The CCPR aligns specialists within GI, Colorectal, Pediatric Surgery, Urology and Gynecology to create a comprehensive treatment program assisting children with these complex disorders. Dr. Levitt has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and 70 book chapters, and has delivered over 500 national/international/regional presentations of his work. He has been an invited visiting professor all over the world. Dr. Levitt has trained numerous clinical fellows, research fellows, nurses and students and has directed multiple colorectal surgery training courses attended by established surgeons and surgical trainees. He dedicates much of his free time to mission trips to the developing world where he trains surgeons and nurses in complex colorectal techniques.
