Caroline Bowsher’s research interests are in the area of Carbon and Nitrogen Metabolism and Plastid Metabolism. She is Deputy Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students in the Faculty of Life Sciences, The University of Manchester, UK.

Alyson Tobin is a Professor in Biology at the University of St Andrews, Scotland and a Fellow of the Society of Biology. She is a former Dean and Vice-Principal (Learning and Teaching) and has been involved in national level revisions of the science curriculum in the UK. She carries out research and teaching in plant cell physiology, focussing on plant nitrogen assimilation and mitochondrial form and function.
