Biography
Eran Shor is a Professor in the Department of Sociology, McGill University in Montreal, Canada. His research on sexuality examines the social dynamics of sexual attraction, aggression, and pleasure. His previous book, Aggression in Pornography: Myths and Realities (2021), was also published with Taylor & Francis.
“For most consumers, pornography is about pleasure. But there’s been remarkably little social scientific research taking that pleasure seriously. Professor Shor’s book makes an important contribution in this area – if you’re interested in sexual pleasure, this book is for you.”
- Alan McKee, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Technology Sydney
"In Pleasure, Pain, and Authenticity in Pornography, Eran Shor delivers a sharp, academically rigorous, provocative, and refreshingly accessible dive into contemporary porn that flips the script on antiquated ideas about gender, power, and pleasure in porn. This bold, timely book will upend your expectations and challenge so much of what you thought you knew."
- Angela Jones, author of Camming: Money, Power, and Pleasure in the Sex Work Industry
