Biography

Christopher Phiri is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Turku, Finland, and an Advocate of the Superior Courts of Zambia.

'Political Disinformation and the Law is, to my knowledge, the first European-focused monograph to provide a comprehensive and holistic analysis of disinformation and its significance for legal and democratic institutions. As such, it addresses a phenomenon that lies at the heart of concerns about democracy and the protection of human rights in today’s public sphere. I have every reason to believe that this book will become essential reading for academics, judges, and policymakers in human rights law, constitutional law, and related fields.'

Juha Lavapuro, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France

‘This thoughtful book is an accurate theoretical and practical assessment of the current state of freedom of expression, and provides a balanced account of the contradiction between the need to protect mass online disinformation as a manifestation of free speech and the expectation to restrict it as a phenomenon that violates the integrity of the public sphere.’

András Koltay, Professor of Law, University of Public Service, Budapest, Hungary
