Biography

Manuel Arias Maldonado is Full Professor of Political Science at the University of Málaga, Spain. With an international academic background spanning Berkeley, NYU, and Munich, he is a remarkable voice in contemporary political theory. Building on a distinguished career in environmental political theory—including Real Green: Sustainability after the End of Nature (Routledge, 2016), the edited volume Rethinking the Environment for the Anthropocene (Routledge, 2019), and a number of Spanish titles—his recent research focuses on how liberal democracy can navigate the challenges of post-truth and populism while maintaining their foundational principles in the ambivalent context provided by late modernity.
