Biography

Amjad Anvari-Moghaddam (S’10–M’14–SM’17) is a full professor and leader of the Intelligent Energy Systems and Flexible Markets (iGRIDS) Research Group at the Department of Energy (AAU Energy), Aalborg University, where he is also acting as the vice-leader of Power Electronic Control, Reliability, and System Optimization (PESYS) and the coordinator of Integrated Energy Systems Laboratory (IES-Lab). His research interests include planning, control, and operation management of microgrids, renewable/hybrid power systems, and integrated energy systems with appropriate market mechanisms. He has (co)authored more than 300 technical articles, 9 books, and 17 book chapters in the field. Dr. Anvari-Moghaddam is the editor-in-chief of the Academia Engineering journal and serves as the associate editor of several leading journals, such as the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, and IEEE Power Engineering Letters. He is the chair of IEEE Denmark, a member of IEC SC/8B Working Group (WG3, WG6, and WG8), and as well as a technical committee member of several IEEE PES/IES/PELS and CIGRE WGs. He also serves as an alternate member of the Council for Energy Efficient Transition at the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Utilities; a member of Reference Group 5, “Climate, Energy, and Mobility” for Horizon Europe (HE) at the Danish Agency for Education and Research (UFS); and a board member of Energy Mission at Aalborg University. He was the recipient of the 2020 DUO–India Fellowship Award, the DANIDA Research Fellowship grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in 2018 and 2021, the IEEE-CS Outstanding Leadership Award 2018 (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), and the 2017 IEEE-CS Outstanding Service Award (Exeter, UK).

Sina Ghaemi is a postdoctoral researcher in the Energy Department at Aalborg University. His primary research areas include renewable energy, the hydrogen economy, energy markets, and integrated energy systems. He has extensive experience in addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with carbon-neutral energy transitions in regional areas, through the development of market-oriented and interdisciplinary solutions.

Shi You is a senior researcher with the Department of Wind and Energy Systems, Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He received his BSc and MSc degrees in electrical engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, in 2004 and Chalmers Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2007, respectively. After he received his PhD in electrical engineering from DTU in 2010, Shi has been working on developing theoretical and practical smart grid and integrated energy solutions that aim at enabling a future energy system with an extremely high share of renewables. He has worked on energy storage, power-to-heat, power-togas, integrated planning and operation, demand response, advanced control and automation, and market-based energy management, etc. His expertise in this field was developed through deep involvement in 30+ national and international R&D projects and close collaboration with related industrial stakeholders. Shi has also published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles.

Frede Blaabjerg (S’86–M’88–SM’97–F’03) was with ABB–Scandia, Randers, Denmark, from 1987 to 1988. He became an assistant professor in 1992, an associate professor in 1996, and a full professor of power electronics and drives in 1998 at AAU Energy. In 2017, he became a Villum Investigator. He is honoris causa at University Politehnica Timisoara (UPT), Romania, in 2017, and at Tallinn Technical University (TTU) in 2018. He has published more than 600 journal papers in the fields of power electronics and its applications. He is the coauthor of eight monographs and the editor of 14 books in power electronics and its applications. He has received 38 IEEE Prize Paper Awards, the IEEE PELS Distinguished Service Award in 2009, the EPE-PEMC Council Award in 2010, the IEEE William E. Newell Power Electronics Award in 2014, the Villum Kann Rasmussen Research Award in 2014, the Global Energy Prize in 2019, and the 2020 IEEE Edison Medal. He was the editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics from 2006 to 2012. Between 2019 and 2020, he served as the president of IEEE Power Electronics Society. He has been vice-president of the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences.
