Biography

Pentti Kujala is a professor of marine technology at the Helsinki University of Technology and at Aalto University, Finland. At Aalto University he has served as leader of the Marine and Arctic Technology Research Group, and has also led the Arctic Maritime Operations and Maritime Excellence Research Unit. He has received the European Transport Research Board TRAVISIONS Award for his work to improve the safety of ships in the Baltic Sea and the Arctic.

Fang Li is an Associate Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, specializing in polar marine engineering and structural integrity, and has served as a guest lecturer at Cranfield University and a visiting scholar at University College London.. He is also an active member of OMAE’s Polar Symposium and China’s Marine Ice Committee.

Mikko Suominen is a Professor at Aalto University, Finland and an expert in ship performance in ice-covered waters and ice-induced loads on ship hulls, with a particular focus on measurement techniques and model-scale testing.

Li Zhou is a Research Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he leads the Polar Equipment Technology Team. He previously worked at Aker Solutions in Norway as an engineer and project manager. He has received the China Shipbuilding Industry Science and Technology Award and the China Institute of Navigation Science and Technology Award, and is an active member of the POAC Committee.
