His research interests lie in radio and audio media theory and practice, media sociology, digital culture and the critical political economy of the media industries.

"Producing Audio Drama is an inspirational, practical and comprehensive handbook on making sound drama in the digital age whether for online podcasts or legacy radio station broadcasting.

Daithi McMahon harnesses all of the knowledge, experience and creativity of somebody who was captured by the dramatic sound medium in his teenage years and through drive, talent and hard work has had a stellar career writing, directing, producing and sound-designing award-winning productions.

His work has been internationally recognised and he now combines his admirable skills in lecturing and teaching in the university world with the passion and success of his professional audio drama career in a concise, clear, and invaluable book.

Ten chapters and ten paths take the reader on a series of workshops fully covering the journey from start to completion of creating the sound play in a contemporary world which has so many more diverse opportunities.

Such a practical and enjoyable text is enormously welcome and meets the exciting demand and interest in his expanding field of dramatic expression."
