    Considered the next industrial revolution, nanotechnology is an exciting field with new advances being reported regularly.     Dr. Changhong Ke is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Dr. Ke received his BS (1997) and MS (2000) from the Beijing Institute of Technology in China, and his Ph.D (2006) in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University. His Ph.D dissertation focuses on the development of a carbon nanotube-based bistable nanoswitch for applications of memory elements and sensors. After finishing his Ph.D, Dr. Ke worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Duke University (2006–2007) where he conducted research on the topics of nanomechanics of single DNA/RNA molecules and radiation-induced DNA damage. His current research focuses on the nanomechanics of novel 1D and 2D nanostructures, nanoscale adhesion and interfaces, bio-inspired complex and hybrid systems, and nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS). Dr. Ke is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society for Experimental Mechanics, and the Biophysical Society.
