Biography
Christopher T. Husbands is Emeritus Reader in Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. Since the 1970s he has published many articles on extreme-right politics in several countries and is the author of a book on the British extreme-right party, the National Front.
"As one of the first sociologists to study the European far right, Chris Husbands’ insights and writings have shaped the thinking of many older scholars of far-right politics, including myself. As the far right is now more successful than ever before in the post-war era, new scholars have much to gain from reading his work, brought together in this essential collection."
Cas Mudde, Stanley Wade Shelton UGAF Professor, School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), University of Georgia, USA, and Professor II, Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX), University of Oslo, Norway
"Christopher Husbands’ book connects a wide array of enlightening analyses of the west European radical and extreme right in its consolidation phase with current developments and debates. For students of the contemporary radical and extreme right, the volume offers many in-depth insights into pivotal country cases and is a valuable framework for further research."
Michael Minkenberg, Professor of Comparative Politics, Europa-Universität Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), Federal Republic of Germany
