Biography

Saad Z. Asif earned an MS in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MS in engineering management from the University of Kansas. He has been working in the field of telecommunications for more than 24 years. He started his career at Sprint (now T-Mobile) and then later worked at two other service providers, VEON (Jazz Pakistan) and Telenor Pakistan. He also spent four years at the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication, Pakistan. At these operators he researched and engineered many state-of-the-art technologies and played a key role in designing their long-term network strategies. He is currently working at Verizon, where he is leading many 5G, IoT and Regulatory Compliance driven initiatives. In addition to his engineering and public policy making roles, he enjoys writing, reading and community work. He has written three books on telecommunications including a book on 5G, and has been granted multiple patents and is a senior member of the IEEE.
