    This set consists of two volumes, which present an analysis of the existing surveys in the literature of batteries, chargers, control systems, battery management systems, plugs, sockets, drives and fuel cell based and plug in smart electric and hybrid vehicles, and discusses the recent developments, future outlook, advanced and analytical modeling techniques of smart electric and hybrid vehicles. Volume 1 provides detailed comparative analysis of parameters of intelligent electric and hybrid vehicles with conventional vehicles and depth in knowledge of power electronics tools in smart electric and hybrid vehicles. It also compiles the research work and findings in advancements of smart electric and hybrid vehicles from automobile, mechanical, electronic, electrical, computer science and allied engineering domains and explains how smart electric and hybrid vehicles can be utilized for harmful emissions over the entire life cycle of vehicle and how reliance on fossil fuels can be cut down. Volume 2 discusses the integration of newer developments like digital twin, artificial intelligence, Nature inspired algorithms, Internet of Things, role of Industry 4.0 in advancements in vehicle engineering. It compiles overall aspects of advancements in smart electric and hybrid vehicles by bringing the latest research and development by comprehensive range of mathematical, numerical and simulation modeling, and management techniques to strengthen the engineering science and technological developments for future.

    Biography

    Dr. Ajay Kumar is currently serving as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, School of Engineering and Technology, JECRC University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He received his Ph.D. in the field of Advanced Manufacturing from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, India after B.Tech. (Hons.) and M.Tech. (Distinction) from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India. His areas of research include Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Manufacturing, Incremental Sheet Forming, Additive Manufacturing, Intelligent vehicles, advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Waste management, and optimization techniques. He has over 60 publications in international journals of repute including SCOPUS, Web of Science and SCI indexed database and refereed international conferences. He has organized various national and international events including an international conference on Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence (ICMAI-2021) as conference chair. He has more than 15 national and international patents in his credit. He has supervised more than 8 M. Tech, PhD scholars and numerous undergraduate projects/theses. He has a total of 13 years of experience in teaching and research. He is and Guest Editor and Review Editor of the reputed journals including Frontiers in Sustainability. He has contributed many international conferences/ symposiums as a session chair, expert speaker, member of editorial board. He has won several proficiency awards during his career, including merit awards, best teacher awards, and so on. He has been adviser of Association of Engineers and Technocrats (AET) and has also authored many in-house course notes, lab manuals, monographs and invited chapters in books. He has organized a series of Faculty Development Programmes, International Conferences, workshops, and seminar for researchers, PhD, UG and PG level students. He is associated with many research, academic, and professional societies in various capacities. 

    Dr. D. K. Rajak is a doctorate in material and design engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand-India. The academic achievements are manifested in his original research contributions through over 120 papers published in refereed international journal, including 18-patents, 02-designs, 12-book chapters, and 02-books. These contributions are well reckoned as shown through numerous citations to his papers more than 1900. He has recognized such as world’s top 2% scientists-2022, young scientist, excellence in research, best session paper and outstanding reviewer from elsevier, springer, wiley journals etc. Moreover, serving as a Nashik-Branch President for International Engineering and Technology Institute, Hong Kong, and recent work consists of development of aluminum foams for different applications where low density and high specific energy absorption is required in automobile, aerospace and thermal management sectors, polymers, fiber etc.

    Mr. Parveen Kumar is currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Head in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rawal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Faridabad, Haryana, India. Currently, he is pursuing Ph.D. from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. He completed his B.Tech. (Hons.) from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, India and M. Tech. (Distinction) in Manufacturing and Automation from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India. His areas of research include Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, Materials; Die less Forming, Design of Automotive systems, Additive Manufacturing, CAD/CAM and artificial Intelligence, machine learning and Internet of Things in manufacturing, multi objective optimization techniques. He has over 20 publications in international journals of repute including SCOPUS, Web of Science and SCI indexed database and refereed international conferences. He has 8 national and international patents in his credit. He has supervised more than 10 M. Tech. scholars and numerous undergraduate projects/theses.     Ms. Sarita Rathee is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, JECRC University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. She received her M. Tech (Distinction) in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India after B.Tech. (Hons.) in electrical engineering. Her areas of research include Artificial Intelligence, IOT, cloud computing, Industry 4.0, Waste management, and optimization techniques. She has over 10 publications in international journals of repute including SCOPUS, Web of Science and SCI indexed database and refereed international conferences. She has more than 05 national and international patents to her credit. She has supervised more than 4 M. Tech scholars and numerous undergraduate projects/theses. She has a total of 05 years of experience in teaching and research. She has won several proficiency awards during his career, including merit awards, best teacher awards, and so on. She is co-adviser of QCFI, Delhi Chapter student cell at JECRC University and has also authored many in-house course notes, lab manuals, monographs and invited chapters in books. She has attended a series of Faculty Development Programs, International Conferences, workshops, and seminars for researchers, PhD, UG and PG level students. She teaches the following courses at the graduate and postgraduate level: instrumentation engineering, IOT, FACTS devices, Power electronics, electric vehicles and so on.
