Biography
Alan Bairner is Professor of Sport & Social Theory at Loughborough University. He has taught broadly in the areas of political theory and political ideology as well as the politics and sociology of sport. His principal research interests are focused on the relationship between sport and the formation of identity with particular reference to national identities and masculinities. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Sociology of Sport Journal, Football Studies, Soccer and Society, and the International Review for the Sociology of Sport.
