Biography

Brett Hutchins is Professor of Media and Communications in the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.  His research analyses who wins, who loses, and how from interdependent processes of social, cultural and technological  transformation, with a particular focus on the sport media and environmental communication. He is the author and editor of six books, including Environmental Conflict and the Media (with Libby Lester) and Sport Beyond Television: The Internet, Digital Media and the Rise of Networked Media Sport (with David Rowe).  

Libby Lester is Professor (Research) and Director of the Monash Climate Communication Hub (CCCH) at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Her work is focused on understanding and promoting the role of communications and media in good decision-making about shared social and environmental futures, and she is recognised internationally for her research on environmental communications. She has published seven academic books and more than one hundred book chapters and journal articles in Media, Culture & Society, International Journal of Communication, Journalism: Theory, Practice and Criticism, Journalism Studies and Environmental Communication, among others. 

Toby Miller is a British-Australian-US interdisciplinary social scientist and Distinguished Professor at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey in Guadalajara. He is the author and editor of over fifty books, has published essays in hundreds of journals and edited collections, and is editor of Society and Open Cultural Studies. His research covers the media, sports, labour, gender, race, citizenship, politics, and cultural policy, as well as the success of Hollywood overseas and the adverse effects of communications technologies.
