Biography
Dr. Kareem Yarde serves as an air transport and tourism consultant. He obtained his PhD from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, researching airline-destination power dynamics and the resource capabilities available to destination stakeholders to positively influence airline route decision-making. He has also served as a Tourism examining committee member. Kareem’s interest in tourism and air transport are arguably governed by one central precept. He is fiercely committed to maximizing air transport and tourism’s roles as catalyst for wider socio-economic development particularly in tourism-dependent economies.
Dr Chrystal Zhang is Associate Professor of Aviation in RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. She has a rewarding career spanning two decades in the aviation industry and having taken various senior roles in government agencies and renowned consultancy firms in China and the UK. Driven by her desire to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals she became an academic in 2011 after attaining her doctoral degree from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom. Armed with real-world insight and a commitment to excellence, she has brought a unique perspective to her teaching and devotes her research to addressing real-world problems with an impact. She has expertise in aviation regulatory compliance, strategies and air travellers’ behaviour. She regularly shares her expert comments with mainstream media outlets such as ABC News, Bloomberg, South China Morning Post, and the Conversation on pressing global aviation matters. Her research interest is in airport/airlines strategies, their relationship with destination stakeholders, and air travellers’ behaviour.
