Biography
Professor Zhi-Shen Wu received his Ph. D. from Nagoya University, Japan in 1990. His research interests include carbon/basalt fibers and FRP composite technologies, advanced sensor technologies and structural health/risk/disaster monitoring, control &management and smart infrastructure. He has published 12 books and over 600 papers in refereed journals and international conference proceedings including over 70 keynote or invited papers. He also holds over 100 authorized patents. He received many awards such as the JSCE Research Award in 1990, the JSCM Technology Award in 2007, and 2009 International SHM Person of the Year Award, National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology of China in 2012, IIFC(International Institute for FRP in Construction) medal in 2016, National Prize for Technology Innovation of China in 2017 etc. He has been the committee chairman or board member of numerous national and international scientific societies such as the president of International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructures (ISHMII). Moreover, he serves as an editor, associate editor, editorial board member for more than ten international journals, including the founding Editor-in-Chief of the International of Sustainable Materials and Structural Systems. He is a member of the Engineering Academy of Japan and a fellow of ASCE, JSCE, ISHMII, and IIFC etc.
Professor Xin Wang received his Ph. D. from Ibaraki University, Japan in 2010. His research interests comprise the long-term behavior and life prediction of FRP composites and high performance and longevity structural system with FRP. He has led/is leading 6 key projects including National Key R&D Plan, National Science Foundation, National Key Technology R&D Program, and etc. Dr. Wang has published over 130 academic papers including 90 SCI-indexed journal papers, and owned 25 patents. He has edited 11 National/industrial codes/specifications. He is serving as the vice-chair of FRP application committee of CCES and the council member of International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC) and several national committees of FRP. He has co-chaired FRPRCS-12 and APFIS-2015 joint international conference. His research has been applied in several important constructions including Nanjing Yangzi River bridge, the island tower in South China Sea, and etc.
Dr Wei-Dong He received his Ph. D. from Southeast University, China in 2021. His main research areas are composite materials, concrete structures, and structural rehabilitation. He is currently a researcher at School of Civil Engineering, Southwest Petroleum University, China.
Professor Mohammad Noori is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering and a recipient of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science Fellowship. Noori’s work in nonlinear random vibrations, seismic isolation and application of artificial intelligence methods for structural health monitoring and resilience is widely cited. He has authored over 250 refereed papers, including over 100 journal articles, 6 scientific books, and has edited 25 technical, and special journal, volumes. Noori has supervised over 90 graduate students and post-doc scholars, and has presented over 100 keynote, plenary, and invited talks. He is the founding executive editor of an international journal and has served on the editorial boards of over 10 other journals and as a member of numerous scientific and advisory boards. He has been a Distinguished Visiting Professor at several highly ranked global universities, and directed the Sensors Program at the National Science Foundation in 2014. He has been a founding director or co-founder of three industry-university research canters and held Chair professorships at two major universities. Noori served as the dean of engineering at Cal Poly for five years, has also served as the Chair of the national committee of mechanical engineering department heads, and was one of 7 co-founders of the National Institute of Aerospace, in partnership with NASA Langley Research Center. Noori also serves as the Chief Technical Advisor for several scientific organizations and industries.
