Biography
Chelsea A.M. Gardner is Associate Professor in the Department of History and Classics at Acadia University. She is an archaeologist working in the Mani Peninsula in southern Greece, where she is the director of the CARTography Project and the Southern Mani Archaeological Project.
"Gateway to Hades, southernmost point in continental Europe, recruiting market for mercenaries - the Tairnaron promontory at the tip of the farfamed Mani peninsula of the Peloponnese has seen it all. But it has had to wait a very long time to find the archaeologist-historian who could do all its quiddities full justice. Such at last is Dr Gardner of Acadia University, who is equally at home discoursing upon the Tainaron oracular shrine, ancient Spartan identity, or the application of digital technology to the mapping of routes across the cape." - Paul Cartledge, University of Cambridge
