Biography
Dr. Daniel Asante Otchere is a research computing software engineer specializing in artificial intelligence and machine learning at the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) at Penn State University, USA. He also works as a Data Scientist with the Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), where his work focuses on breaking boundaries in artificial intelligence innovations within health informatics. He holds a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in Malaysia, a master’s degree in petroleum geoscience from the University of Manchester in the UK, and a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering from the University of Mines and Technology in Ghana. Professionally, Dr. Otchere has extensive experience in the mining and oil and gas industries, contributing to multiple onshore and offshore projects that have significantly advanced petroleum operations across Africa and Southeast Asia. He currently serves as an editor for Petroleum Geoscience Journal and maintains his long-standing involvement with the World Geothermal Congress—having served as a technical committee member since 2021. Beyond his professional and editorial roles, Dr. Otchere teaches artificial intelligence through his YouTube channel, Study with Dani, where he shares insights on machine learning and computational science. His expertise driven numerous collaborative research efforts, resulting in publications in leading journals and conferences, as well as a patent application. He was recognized for excellence in teaching and research at UTP, earning the Best Postgraduate Student Award in 2021 and the Graduate Assistant Merit Award in 2021 and 2022.
