Biography

Andre Nudelman is the Entrepreneur in Residence at the Lemann Center, Stanford Graduate School of Education, USA. His past ventures include part-ownership and managing Maple Bear Schools Latin America, the largest franchised K-12 bilingual school chain in Latin America, which sold in 2016. Through his private equity firm Addquire, he currently controls Digital Media Academy, International Comprehensive, International Canadian Academy, Interactive Health International, and Nouvelle School.

“Andre Nudelman provides a first-rate guide for entrepreneurs who want to contribute something socially useful and make a living while doing so. Even for those of us who see high quality public schooling as the sine qua non of good education, the book is a great read, with well-reasoned arguments for private schooling’s role, especially under the high ethical standards that run through every chapter.” Professor Martin Carnoy, Stanford GSE

"Whether you lean toward public or private schooling, profit or non-profit enterprises, hands-on or AI-centered classes, traditional or progressive pedagogy and assessment, you will be well-informed by Andre Nudelman’s lucid and comprehensive book." Howard Gardner, Hobbs Research Professor of Cognition and Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education

"Discussions of private education have become almost entirely ideological, avoiding any nuance and seldom explicitly expressing goals and ways of assessing the heterogeneous collection of schools.  This backdrop makes Andre Nudelman’s book so refreshing.  By mixing lived experiences with a thoughtful dissection of operating principles, he both describes key elements of private (and public) school effectiveness and implicitly delineates a framework for assessing performance." Eric Hanushek, Hoover Institution, Stanford University
