Biography
Kristine Roome is a lecturer in the Museums & Society program at Johns Hopkins University. She has a PhD in anthropology from Columbia University with an expertise in arts & culture.
“C.P. Snow lamented the division of science and the humanities many decades ago. In an increasingly divided time, it is ever more important to bring different fields together. Kristine Roome’s The Human Feather: Pierre Huyghe and Ali Brivanlou on Art and Science is a great example of the wonderful things that can emerge from collaboration and exchange between disciplines. Roome’s exploration in going beyond art and science in the form of ongoing conversations with artist Pierre Huyghe and molecular embryologist Ali Brivanlou is an urgent form of reality production and creation of new alliances. This book manifests that 1+1=11.”
Hans Ulrich Obrist, Swiss art curator, critic, and art historian
“Bold, brilliant, and deeply human, The human feather is a masterwork of interdisciplinary storytelling. Kristine Roome weaves science, art, and philosophy into a tapestry that challenges boundaries and expands minds. The Human Feather: Pierre Huyghe and Ali Brivanlou on Art and Science offers us endless food for thought and Kristine Roome presents their truths masterfully. This is a necessary book for anyone daring enough to imagine new futures. ”
