Biography
David Aled Williams holds a PhD in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London, UK. He is currently Senior Researcher at the Chr. Michelsen Institute, Norway.
“Williams' work is a useful resource for individuals interested in exploring issues of climate change, natural resource management, and environmental conservation. Williams' emphasis on both the political and economic aspects of REDD+ implementation makes this book a useful complement to political ecology literature….Williams' study is engaging because it presents an in-depth analysis of climate change mitigation governance irregularities based on empirical evidence, which he uncovered in direct field research into the actual practice of REDD+ schemes in Indonesia. It also develops research methods that enable the disclosure of previously unreachable information.” Krisman Heriamsal, Syahri Ridani, & Hasbi in Journal of Political Ecology Vol. 31, 2024
“The book aims to provide important insights into power distribution, inequality, conflicts of interest, community participation, and environmental impacts of REDD+ implementation in Indonesia. As such, it is essential for readers involved in realizing better environmental governance.” Anisa Sulistiani & Erwin Syahputra Rambe in Environmental Politics, Volume 33, 2024 - Issue 6
