The electric energy consumed in homes, shops, and industry is transported from the generating plants to the consumers mentioned through transmission lines in alternating current (AC). The transmission lines are very important because without them many cities could not use the electric power and the life in these cities would be a chaos.

In this book, the reader will learn, easily and didactically, how an AC transmission line project is executed in practice, how to calculate the parameters needed to use in transmission lines projects, how an AC transmission line operates, and how to use the ATPdraw, a world-class computing program, to do simulations of AC transmission lines. The purpose of integrating the ATPdraw computational program with this book is to provide computational solutions from examples proposed in the text, to show topics covered in the text, to get computational solutions with a more realistic tool and to provide readers with an experience using a professional analysis program transmission line.

This book aims to introduce alternating current power transmission, deep enough to provide undergraduate and graduate students in electrical engineering at various higher education institutions with a solid theoretical background on the subject, specifically for students wishing to pursue their studies in electrical power systems.

About the Authors

Ailson Pereira de Moura works at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Ceara. He teaches in the graduation and post-graduation areas, being responsible for the following disciplines:Electrical Circuits; Electric power transmission; Power Systems Analysis; Distribution Systems Analysis (M.Sc.); Distributed Generation Network Analysis (M.Sc.).

Adriano Aron Freitas de Moura has experience in Electrical Engineering, focusing on Electrical Systems, Generation, Transmission, Electricity Distribution and Renewable Energy Sources. He is the creator and leader of the research group at UFERSA GESPER - Renewable Energy Power Systems Study Group. He teaches in the graduation and post-graduation areas, being responsible for the following disciplines: Power System Analysis; Wind Energy; Transients and Harmonics (M.Sc.); Modern Power System Analysis (M. Sc.).

Ednardo Pereira da Rocha is an assistant professor at the Federal Rural University of Semi-arid. He has the interest in the following areas of study: Electrical Power Systems; Alternative Energy Sources and Industrial Electrical Installations.
