Biography

Jessica Shurson is an Assistant Professor in Law at the University of Sussex. Her research focuses on the balance of security and human rights in the context of digital investigations, with particular attention to jurisdictional conflicts, investigatory powers, and encryption policy. Before entering academia, she spent eight years as an Assistant District Attorney General for the State of Tennessee, where she specialised in prosecuting sex crimes and crimes against children.
