Jai Prakash, professor of targeted therapeutics and nanomedicine at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, is a pharmaceutical and bioentrepreneurial scientist with a background in developing novel targeted (nano)therapeutics against fibrosis and tumor stroma. He obtained his PhD (cum laude) in 2006 from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and thereafter worked as vice president at BiOrion Technologies BV, the Netherlands, assistant professor at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, and tenure track professor at the University of Twente. He is a founder and CSO of a spin-off company ScarTec Therapeutics BV, the Netherlands, which develops novel therapeutics against fibrosis and cancer. He holds several academic positions, including president of BeNeLux and France local chapter for the Controlled Release Society, and editorial positions for many journals. He is expert referee for more than 20 grant agencies worldwide. His current research focuses on designing targeting technologies to modulate the tumor microenvironment to intervene into the fibrotic and inflammatory crosstalk between tumor cells and stromal cells.
