H. J. Dyos, B.Sc.(Econ.), Ph.D., F.R.Hist.S., is Professor of Urban History in the University of Leicester.

Michael Wolff, B.A., M.A., Ph.D., is Professor of English and Victorian Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, formerly of Indiana University, and sometime Fellow of the Center for the Humanities, Wesleyan University.
