They purify water, control floods, recharge groundwater, store carbon, and support an immense diversity of plant and animal species. Despite their crucial role, wetlands are under severe threat from human activities such as agriculture, urbanization, pollution, and unsustainable development. The growing impact of climate change exacerbates these threats, making the conservation and management of wetlands even more urgent.

This new book, Wetland Management for Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change Mitigation, explores the intricate relationship between wetland ecosystems, biodiversity, and climate change. Ashok K. Rathoure, PhD, brings an impressive and diverse background in environment protection. His expertise covers ecology, biodiversity, water pollution control, waste management, and EIA (environmental impact assessment) coordination for various sectors, aligning with National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) (QCI, New Delhi) guidelines. He has extensive experience with a wide range of industrial sectors. He has contributed significantly to academia, with a remarkable record of 100 full-length research papers published in international and national journals. Additionally, he has authored over 60 books from reputed publishers in India and abroad. His dedication to advancing scientific knowledge is further evident through his role as a reviewer for more than 100 research manuscripts in international journals. He is also a member of various international organizations such as Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society (APCBEES) (Hong Kong), International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT) (Singapore), European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) (Spain), and the Society for Conservation Biology (Washington, DC). He is also a founding member of the Scientific Planet Society (Dehradun). Dr. Rathoure serves as an editor for various prestigious journals.

Rekha Rani, PhD, is currently working as an Associate Professor and Head at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (A central University), Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, India. Her area of expertise is aquatic toxicology, environmental pollution, entomology, and biodiversity. She has more than 15 years of experience in teaching and research. She has been presented with many prestigious awards, including Vigyan Ratna Purushkar (2023) by Asian Biological Research Foundation (ABRF) (India), the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Younge Dynamic Versatile Best Teacher Award (2017), etc. She has published 28 research papers, one book, one book chapter, four conference proceedings, two reviews, and technical manuscripts in international and national journals. She has also published a patent. She has presented her research papers at various national and international conferences, seminars, and symposiums in India and abroad. She has also been involved with various government activities for saving the environment, nature, and animals. She earned her doctorate and MPhil degrees from the School of Life Sciences, Khandari campus, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra. She has also qualified UGC PDF & UGC Fellowship (JRF-SRF).

Priya Banerjee, PhD, is presently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, India. She has several national and international journal articles, conference proceedings and book chapters to her credit. She has successfully edited three books to date and is working on three more at present. She has also participated in various national and international seminars and has received awards for best platform and poster presentations, including the best poster presentation award at the 100th Indian Science Congress, held at Kolkata. Her current research interests include integrated waste management, resource recovery, and toxicology strategies. She is also an active reviewer for journals published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, and Taylor & Francis. She is presently in research collaborations with several national and international research institutes. She completed her master’s in Environmental Science at the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. After qualifying UGC NET in Environmental Science, she completed her PhD research from the Department of Environmental Science, University of Calcutta, Kolkata.
