Biography
Sharon A. Gutman held faculty positions in occupational therapy education programs for 30 years, including Columbia University (2006–2021) and Rutgers University (2021–2024) where she served as a full professor; she is currently retired. During her 30-year career, Dr. Gutman published 76 peer-reviewed journal articles, 14 textbooks, 26 textbook chapters, and 24 editorials. She was editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy (AJOT) (2008–2014) and received the following professional awards: inducted into the American Occupational Therapy Association Roster of Fellows (2009); awarded the Cordelia Myers Best Paper in AJOT accolade (2021); and awarded the Eleanor Clarke Slagle Lectureship (2021).
Diane Powers Dirette is a professor in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences PhD Program at Western Michigan University. She has published 19 peer-reviewed journal articles, 6 textbooks, 19 textbook chapters, and 37 editorials. Dr. Dirette is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Open Journal of Occupational Therapy. She has received the following professional awards: Teaching Excellence Award, CHHS, Western Michigan University (2003); Scholarship Excellence Award, CHHS, Western Michigan University (2014); American Occupational Therapy Association Roster of Fellows (2016); Hinojosa Distinguished Alumni Award, Department of OT, New York University (2020); and Michigan Occupational Therapy Association OT Award of Excellence, MiOTA (2023).
