Josephine Caust is Principal Fellow (Hon) in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne and Director of JoCaustArts, a broad-based arts consultancy company. She has published several books including Arts Leadership in Contemporary Contexts (Routledge 2018), Arts and Cultural Leadership in Asia (Routledge Asian Studies 2015) and Arts Leadership: International Case Studies (Tilde University Press in 2013). She is the author of many research articles and book chapters.

Biography

Associate Professor Josephine Caust is Principal Fellow (Hon) in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne and Director of JoCaustArts, a broad-based arts consultancy company. She was formerly Associate Professor and Director of the Arts and Cultural Management Program at the University of South Australia.  She has published four books including Arts Leadership in Contemporary Contexts. Other books include Arts and Cultural Leadership in Asia (Routledge Asian Studies 2015) and Arts Leadership: International Case Studies (Tilde University Press in 2013).  She was Founder Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Arts and Cultural Management and is the author of many articles, book chapters, research reports and conference papers. She has also written extensively for the Conversation as their cultural policy columnist. Prior to her academic career, Dr Caust worked in the arts sector as an arts practitioner, manager, bureaucrat and consultant. She was Director of Arts Development for the South Australian Government and Director Women and Arts for the NSW Government. A/Prof Caust has also undertaken extensive work in India, Vietnam and China running workshops on different topics including cultural policy, arts leadership and new ways of income generation. As a consultant she has worked with individuals, arts organizations, tertiary institutions and government bodies.
