Christopher Martin Cumo

A historian of the natural sciences and agriculture, Christopher Cumo hopes in some small way to illuminate how biology shapes history. CRC Press has published 2 - Plants & People and Ancestral Diets & Nutrition - of his 9 books. Besides books, he has edited a 3-volume encyclopedia and contributed articles and reviews to journals, entries to encyclopedias, and articles and short fiction to magazines.


An Italian immigrant to the United States, Christopher Cumo absorbed his teachers' conviction that a person without connections and wealth could succeed only through education. He concentrated on chemistry, mathematics, and philosophy as as undergraduate, developing an interest in Plato's dialogues. Cumo specialized in history of science in graduate school.
