Biography

An Italian immigrant to the United States, Christopher Cumo absorbed his teachers' conviction that a person without connections and wealth could succeed only through education. He concentrated on chemistry, mathematics, and philosophy as as undergraduate, developing an interest in Plato's dialogues. Cumo specialized in history of science in graduate school.
