Hakan Butuner
Associate Prof. Dr. Hakan Butuner has BS in IE, MBA, and Ph.D. in EM degrees. He has been active both in academic and professional life. Currently, he is lecturing in Business Schools, and acting as a business founder, consultant and trainer in his Industrial Management & Engineering consulting and training business. Additionally, he is the president of II&SE – Turkish professional chapter and the board member of IHPP. Author has several universally known publications and books.
Biography
Dr. Butuner has received his B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University; MBA from Bilkent University; and Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla.He has been active both in professional and academic life for several years. Additionally, as an entrepreneur he has acted as the affiliates of several US consulting companies (RMA, HPC Inc., Proplanner) in industrial management and engineering consulting and training fields; and has built various international franchising businesses. During the same periods, he has lectured in the business schools and/or industrial engineering departments of worldwide known universities.
Currently, he is a faculty member in Walker School of Business & Technology of Webster University, plus running IMECO (Industrial Management and Engineering Consulting – which is the affiliates of well-known US consulting companies.) Additionally, he is the founder-president of Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers – Turkish professional chapter; entrepreneur mentor in the Scientific and Technological Research Council; and the board member of Institute of High-Performance Planners in Kansas City, US.
During his career path, he has completed and participated in above 100 professional industrial engineering and management projects (especially in Strategic Planning, Facilities Design, Operations Improvement, Process Reengineering), developed and deployed many training programs and workshops to various corporations and universities.
Also, as a developer of Systematic Strategic Planning (SSP) and Results-Based Systematic Operations Improvement (SIP) methodologies, he has several cited books and papers (especially in Planning by Design, Operations Management and Improvement, Supply Chain Management, and Strategic Planning areas) published by the world-wide known publication houses (such as Taylor & Francis, SAGE) and journals.
