I am a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner with 36 years expereicnce in 3 North east local authorities. I now work as an independent health and safety and environmental management consultant. I have written 7 books, 3 coursebooks for health and safety, edited Bassett's Environmental Health Procedures published in 2014, wrote Procedures for Licensing Authority Officers in 2015, an ebook of Practical Drainage Investyigation and a book of walks in the valley where Iive.

Senior local government officer for 23 years following 10 years as an Environmental Health Officer.Broad experience in private sector housing, food safety, health and safety, air pollution and noise and infectious disease control.
Significant strategy development experience in sustainability and climate change with proven management skills in project development and making partnerships work.
4 years consultancy for private sector roofing and metal fabrication company.
Considerable presentational and communication skills evidenced by many presentations and published documents including the writing of the course books for the CIEH Level 3 and 4 Health and Safety at Work qualification, editing Bassett's Environmental Health Procedures and writing Procedures for Local Authority Licensing Officers.
Extensive experience at all levels of my professional body, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, including Chairman of Council in 2004. Currently a member of the Board of Trustees.

I have a wide interest in social activities including running, cycling, playing darts, singing, listening to music, watching many types of sport, home maintenance and gardening. I also have an interest in writing plays and walking books.
I have been active in my professional body the Chartered Institute of Environmemntal Health having been a Trustee since 1994. I was Chairman of the Council in 2004 and Chair of the Resources Committee betweeen 2004 and 2012
