BiographyI am the former Head of Applied Electronics in the Faculty of Technology at Highbury College, Portsmouth, U.K. More recently, I have combined freelance lecturing at the University of Portsmouth, with Examiner responsibilities for Advanced Mathematics with City and Guilds, and examining for International Baccalaureate. I have some 45 years experience of successfully teaching, lecturing, instructing, training, educating and planning of trainee engineers study programmes. I am the author of over 130 textbooks on engineering and mathematical subjects with worldwide sales of over one million copies. I am a chartered engineer, a chartered mathematician, a chartered scientist and a Fellow of three professional institutions, and am currently lecturing at the Defence College of Marine and Air Engineering in the Defence College of Technical Training at H.M.S. Sultan, Gosport, Hampshire, U.K.
Areas of Research / Professional Expertise
I undertook research into partial discharges in transformer for the Science Research Council.
However, most of my career has been devoted to devising, planning and undertaking engineering programmes of study for trainee engineers in further and higher education and within the armed forces.
Besides mathematics and engineering I have a great intertest in most sports, particularly football and cricket, participating in both until more recent times. I also love music and have directed choirs and brass bands for some 30 years. Holidays also feature high on my personal interests list with several destinations still on my bucket list.
