She is an archaeologist and has excavated at a number of important Historic and Proto Historic Archeological sites in India including Sravasti, Dholavira, Govishana and Adi Badri. She has been involved in academic as well as active field research on Early Buddhist Historical Sites for over fifteen years. She is currently working for Archaeological Survey of India as an Assistant Archaeologist. She has published numerous works on Buddhism, gender and archaeology.

M.A in Ancient Indian History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1999
M.Phil in Ancient Indian History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2001, with Dissertation on the topic- Festivities in Early Buddhism: Element of music and dance
Post Graduate Diploma in Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi, 2002
Ph.D on the topic- Rediscovering the Invisible Believers: Women in Monastic Buddhism in Ancient North India
