Independent Practice

For over 35 years it's been my pleasure to work with the diverse and multilayered world of children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum brain style differences. Supporting families and individuals across age and ability levels as they develop their unique autism narrative led to Family Therapy and the Autism Spectrum. I hope you enjoy the stories in this book as you learn new ways to think--and talk---about the autism spectrum brain style as it applies to families.

Biography

As a licensed psychologist and licensed specialist in school psychology, my independent practice focuses exclusively on the autism spectrum. In addition to seeing families and individuals in a therapy context, I consult regularly with areas schools to support best practice autism evaluations and classroom supports. I also frequently speak at national and international conferences for psychologists and other professionals.

Although I have lived in Texas for many years I spent my childhood and adolescence living in Colombia and Brazil and speak Spanish and Portuguese. My paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States from the Cape Verde Islands, and I enjoy cooking Brazilian and Cape Verdean dishes. My husband and I enjoy traveling and exploring new cultures. And, of course, I enjoy having conversations with individuals with autism spectrum brain style differences wherever I go.
