Sandie Mourão
Sandie Mourão (PhD) is an invited assistant professor at Nova University, Lisbon where she teaches on the MA for primary English teachers. Her main interests are early years second language education, play and language education, children's literature and classroom-based research. She is co-author of the book Early Years Second Language Education: International Perspectives on Theory and Practice (Routledge, 2015).
Biography
I am an independent scholar living and working in Portugal since 1987 where I work as a teacher educator, author and consultant specialising in early years language education. presently I work part-time at Nova University Lisbon where I teach and supervise students on the MA in primary English. I have a PhD in didactics and teacher education from the University of Aveiro and researched the relationship between picturebook illustrations and foreign language development in pre-primary children. I am author of a number of language learning courses and resource books and co-author of the guidelines for primary English education in Portugal. I am a regular contributor to edited volumes, journals and magazines related to English Language Teaching and children's literature.
