Nicoletta Setola

Biography

Architect (2003), researcher in Architectural Technology on the topic of healthcare building. She is expert in methodology and tools for the spatial configuration analysis related to people flow in building and built environment. PhD in Architectural Technology and Design at university of Florence (2008), her work focuses particularly on spatial configuration analysis and real time simulation for complex architectural project. She focuses her research on Space Syntax theory and methodology and its experimentation in hospitals.
She has work experience from monitoring systems for complex programs in the activities of the Careggi Monitoring Laboratory and also from complex building as industrial areas redevelopment and museum planning. With her PhD thesis she received 2nd prize of the Rosalba La Creta Prize, from the Italian Society of Architectural Technology (SITdA). She was Editorial Assistant for TECHNE, Journal of Technology for Architecture and Environment. She also built up collaboration with foreign universities:Bartlett School of Architecture of UCL in London (UK), Ball State University (IN), Tonji University (CH), University of Lund (SW), and Academy for Design and Health in Stockholm (SW).
She has planned and organized several educational workshops on most recent approaches to design complexity for undergrad and PhD students.
She has worked in professional practice in the field of interior design and healthcare facilities.
