
Ron Kasprisin
Ron is an architect, urban planner and watercolor artist living on Whidbey Island northwest of Seattle. His work focuses on the redesign of waterfront communities in Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. Ron is a Professor Emeritus in Urban Design and Planning, College of Built Environments, University of Washington. He has written five books, the last two with Routledge/T&F: "Urban Design: the composition of complexity" and "Play in creative problem-solving".

Biography
Ron has practiced urban design since 1968, as Kasprisin Pettinari Design, focusing on downtown and waterfront redevelopment in Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. He is a Professor (Emeritus) in Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington since 1989. Ron lives on Whidbey Island northwest of Seattle in Langley, Washington, a lovely waterfront town on Puget Sound.Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

Ron is a recognized watercolor artist with numerous juried exhibitions including the Salmagundi Club NY, Northwest Watercolor Society, St. Louis Artists Guild, Peninsula Art Association, East Side Association of Fine Arts Bellevue WA, Wyoming Watercolor Society, Western Colorado Watercolor Society, Farms and Barns WI. Ron teaches watercolor in his Whidbey Island studio.

Ron published the second edition of Urban Design: the composition of complexity in July 2019; a major revision with new work and expanded theory section. Ron also gained Signature Status in the Northwest Watercolor Society in March of 2019.

Ron's watercolor painting "Port Alberni Bound" was accepted for exhibition by the Western Colorado Watercolor Society in Grand Junction CO. Ron's work is currently being exhibited at Prima in Langley WA and Charmer's in Freeland WA.
