Mr. Lane served the State of Georgia from 1981 until his retirement in 2012 as an investigator for 10 years and as Director of Investigations for 21 years. He retired as the Chief Investigator for the Georgia Composite Medical Board after serving in this capacity for 13 years. His entire career has been devoted to healthcare regulation and investigation. He is published in several field related journals and periodicals.

Biography

Mr. Lane began his career in 1979 as a police officer with the Clayton County Police Department.  In 1981, he accepted a position as an agent with the Georgia Office of Secretary of State.  He was promoted to Senior Agent in 1982 and in 1991 appointed to the position of Director of Investigations and served in this position until 2000.

Mr. Lane then served as Director of Investigations for the Georgia Composite Medical Board from 2000 until his retirement in 2012.

Upon his retirement from public service Mr. Lane went to work for the law firm of Allen & McCain, P.C. in Atlanta, GA as their regulatory affairs consultant.  His responsibilities at the firm include working with the attorneys and healthcare practitioner clients handling licensing and regulatory matters.  

Mr. Lane is a 1978 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in criminal justice.  He is a 1994 graduate of Georgia State University with a Masters Degree in criminal justice where he was awarded the Graduate Academic Honor Award.

Mr. Lane served as an adjunct faculty member at Georgia State University, Department of Criminal Justice for sixteen years.  In 2004 he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Service Award by the Department of Criminal Justice for his contributions to Georgia State University and the criminal justice community.

He is published in several criminal justice journals and periodicals to include the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, Georgia State Criminal Justice Review, and the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin.
