Sara Upstone

Associate Professor
Kingston University

I'm Associate Professor of English Literature and also Director of Learning and Teaching for the School of Humanities at Kingston University, London. I work on contemporary literature and in particular the intersection of questions of race, gender, and sexuality. I also work on spatial politics, critical theory, and social imaginaries of desire.

Subjects: Literature

I have worked at Kingston for 10 years, and before that completed a PhD at Birkbeck College, University of London. I was born and grew up in London, and my work is heavily informed by my personal experiences of the city.

In my spare time you'll find me experimenting in the kitchen, reading a book by the sea, writing fiction while listening to Brahms, at the theatre or the ballet, or playing piano for my cat.
