BiographyDimitris K. Iakovidis, was born in Athens in 1973. He received his B.Sc. degree in Physics in 1997, his M.Sc. degree in Cybernetics with honors in 2001, and his Ph.D. degree in Informatics in 2004, all from the University of Athens, Greece.
Since then he has been working in the broader field of image and video processing, pattern recognition and knowledge representation, with a special interest in biomedical applications. He has a considerable experience from participation in several national and European research projects, and from adjunct academic positions at the University of Athens, and at the University of Central Greece. Currently he is a Professor at the Dept. of Computer Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Lamia, Greece. He is also Head of the Institute of Information Technology, Vice Director of the Center for Technological Research of Central Greece, and serves as an independent expert for the European Commission.
Dr. Iakovidis is a member of IEEE and IAPR since 2005, and he has co-authored over 100 journals, conference papers, and book chapters. He is a book editor, editorial board member and reviewer of several international scientific journals.
