George August Maul
Dr. Maul teaches oceanography, meteorology, Earth system science, and research vessel operations at Florida Tech, and is an avid champion for seagoing hands-on learning. His research interests include quantifying sea level, temperature, and coastal change. Prof. Maul is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, a Fellow of the Marine Technology Society, and is the 2016 Medalist of the Florida Academy of Sciences.

Biography
George Maul graduated college as a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer, and then served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. Lieutenant Commander Maul was initiated into the Solemn Mysteries of the Ancient Order of Shellbacks at 44 West Longitude. As a NOAA oceanographer, he earned three Distinguished Authorship Awards, and was chief scientist on major research cruises. Dr. Maul was a vice chairman in the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, chairman of the joint IOC/UNEP Task Team on Climatic Change in the Wider Caribbean Region, founding chairman - IOCARIBE Tsunami Steering Group of Experts, chairman of the Florida COOS Consortium, president of SECOORA - the Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association of IOOS, head of Florida Tech's Department of Marine and Environmental Systems, and president of Florida Tech's chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.Education
