FEATURED AUTHOR
Armand Léon van Ommen
I am a theologian, working as Christ's College Teaching Fellow in Practical Theology at the University of Aberdeen. In my book 'Suffering in Worship' I seek to give a voice to suffering by analyzing how the church's worship can create space for people who feel broken or go through a time of suffering. This book, like my other research and writing, starts from a pastoral awareness and with a love for liturgy and worship.

Biography
Having studied both in the Netherlands (Kampen) and Belgium (Leuven), I got my Ph.D. from the Evangelische Theologische Faculteit in Leuven. The book 'Suffering in Worship is based on the research I did for the Ph.D. Apart from this book, I published a book in Dutch on the same topic. In the summer of 2016 I moved with my family to Scotland, where I was offered the position of Christ's College Teaching Fellow in Practical Theology at the University of Aberdeen. Much of my work is focused on pastoral needs, especially the needs of marginalised people who are stigmatised and whose voices are not heard.Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

My research focuses on liturgy, ritual, narrative, suffering and reconciliation. Other areas of research include (mental) health and healing, worship, prayer, and sacraments. Working in the area of Practical Theology I am interested in the empirical and theological reality of religious practices.
