He went on to apply Lean thinking to drive sustainable improvement in operational and supply chain performance. Tim's books are based on real experience and are clear, easy to read and full of relevant examples and case studies.

Tim McLean has had a 30 year career in applying Lean in manufacturing and supply chain across a range of industries. His first book,  “Grow your Factory, Grow Your Profits: Lean for Small and Medium Sized Manufacturing Enterprises” released by Productivity Press in December 2014. His latest book, "On Time In Full: Achieving Perfect Delivery with Lean Thinking in Purchasing, Supply Chain and Production Planning" is released in April 2017.

Tim was first introduced to Lean and Operational Excellence in the late 1980’s as a young production manager of a small plastics extrusion plant, part of German Global Chemical Manufacturer, Hoechst AG. Tim went on to hold a range of manufacturing and supply chain management roles across the plastics moulding, packaging, printing and chemicals industries for major companies including Hoechst AG, Amcor and PPG. Tim was fortunate to be coached by a succession of mentors steeped in the principles of Lean. As an Operations Manager and General Manager, Tim then faced the real challenge of applying these theories to drive performance in his plants.

After successful 16 year career leading manufacturing and supply chains, Tim set up TXM, a Consulting business in Australia aimed at helping other Manufacturing Leaders like himself to achieve their goals. TXM has since grown to be one of a leading specialist Lean consultancy, operating from offices in Australia, the US, UK and China and carrying out a diverse range of projects, primarily in manufacturing, distribution and agri-business. In line with Tim’s experience and values, TXM has developed a reputation for delivering practical outcomes for manufacturers, especially SMEs.

Through his corporate and consulting career Tim has faced a wide range of complex supply chain challenges including implementation of ERP systems, international outsourcing, distribution network redesign and plant and warehouse consolidation. It is much of this practical experience that Tim has drawn upon in his latest.
