Virkki has studied, for example, violence in close relationships and workplaces, practices of encountering violence in social and health care institutions, interaction between national and transnational policies on domestic violence, discourses of violence and hate speech, subjectivity and embodiment, gendered emotional cultures, ethics of care, political constructions of social exclusion and restructuring of social service system.

Biography
Tuija Virkki (PhD, Adjunct Professor) is a Research Fellow at the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of Finland. She received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Jyväskylä in 2004. Her multidisciplinary dissertation examined the relationship between feelings of anger and agency, and combined Foucault’s theory and narrative analysis.Books

The article examines online discussions in Finland that focus on violence committed by Finnish women, on one hand, and non-white migrant men, on the other. Drawing on the perspective of sociology of value, the article illustrates how these discussions function as sites of struggles over moral worth in a contemporary context characterised by crises of both male and white hegemony.
