Peter’s research is focused on theoretical, cultural and practice-oriented views of spatial planning in a European perspective, EU cohesion policies and transnational territorial cooperation, discursive construction and institutionalization of ‘new’ regions for policy and planning, comparison of spatial planning systems, strategic spatial planning in metropolitan areas, and innovations in urban and regional governance. He has been principal investigator in a number of larger transnational research projects (e.g. within the ESPON 2013 programme, Horizon 2020, JPI Urban Europe).
