Peter Šenk

Biography

Peter Šenk, PhD, BArch, MArch[BI] is Associate Professor of Architecture and Spatial Planning at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture, University of Maribor, and a licensed architect. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana. After several years of working as an architect at the SADAR+VUGA architecture office, he continued his studies at the Berlage Institute, Postgraduate Laboratory of Architecture in Rotterdam, where he earned a Master's Degree in 2003 (Master of Excellence in Architecture) and later gained a PhD in Humanities - Philosophy and Theory of Visual Culture (University of Primorska).
He is a co-founder of the Institute for Spatial Policies (www.ipop.si), engages in art and social criticism with the FWC - First World Camp platform (www.fwc.si), and a cofounder of Studio Stratum architecture office (www.studiostratum.net) and a cofounder and program coordinator at the Maribor House  of Architecture (ham.raz.um.si).
He has published articles in local and international popular and peer-reviewed journals, participated in and held local and international workshops, round tables and conferences, and shown his work at exhibitions around the world. He edited the books Mesto: rob/City: Edge (Založba Pivec, HAM Publikacije, 2014) and Funkcija v arhitekturi (Function in Architecture/Theoretical Practice of Architecture book series): Sullivan-Meyer-Arnheim-Adorno-Pallasmaa (Založba ZRC, 2020) and is the author of Kapsula: tipologija druge arhitekure (Založba ZRC, 2015) (Capsule: Typology of Other Architecture/Theoretical Practice of Architecture book series).
